Last of the Legend of Korra Part 2

Part 2 - BEGIN!

AGAIN: SPOILERS FOR LEGEND OF KORRA, THE LAST EPISODE, ARE BELOW! DON'T READ UNLESS YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT OR DON'T CARE!

We delve right on into the next episode with no break (actually, there was a break while I edited the last post and looked through some typos and added some gifs, but I have been VERY good and haven't watched the episode all the way through past the title screen... though I have been tempted).

Thoughts on the title: Really hoping this doesn't take after the X-men movie of the same name... But in all seriousness, it does have a foreboding name to it and after Hiroshi's death, we, the audience, are now worried about everybody else, so I wouldn't be surprised if they killed more people - all bets are off to stop Kuvira.

But bets on who is most likely to commit self-sacrifice or die horribly?

Mako comes to mind first, but that would absolutely destroy the fans of the show. Works with his personality though.

One of the Beifong sisters might happen too. Lin's been known to commit to the cause enough to stand and take whatever gets thrown at her for the sake of others and Su will do anything to save her family at this point so I could see either of them perishing.

I don't think Korra will kill Kuvira unless something really drastic happens, but... we shall see.

Kuvira is committed completely now and she will kill the Avatar if she can now, so that could be interesting as there would be no more chance for a show after because the Avatar cycle would probably die with Korra, or a darker turn of events has an earth bender origin Avatar grow up under the Empire's rule or even Kuvira's teaching... Woah, that would weird, but most likely will not happen.

Again, anyone is fair game after Hiroshi, but I don't know how much the show can push the envelope - not that they care about rocking the boat at this point, but there are still some restraints I think.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kuvira is disappointed, but not really fazed and starts to crush the ice-prison around the mech despite the Avatar and crew's successful infiltration.

Barely flinches and she's back to work.

Random animation lover in me likes the mirrored movement between the metal bending Kuvira's doing inside and what the mech does on the outside; it's just a really nice visual.

So fun and cool!

Kuvira then turns calmly to the operator and orders a lockdown and search of the mech. She knows some of the game might be salvageable at this point if they can find the Avatar and her buddies in time.

Random side note and passing: I love that they had an ISTP as the 'baddy' in this one (at least, I'm pretty convinced that she's an ISTP... it's hard to tell sometimes with Observers in leadership roles, but all of the evidence points to it). They are super fucking scary when their value system is being threatened and Kuvira's no exception to that. It makes her a really interesting adversary and not one you usually see in any show, much less an american written 'kids show' (Will probably have to discuss that at some point).

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut to the upper thigh of the mech and Korra is telling everyone to divide and conquer: Su and Lin with go and disable the gun; Bolin and Mako will take out the power-source; she will head to the bridge and fight Kuvira.

Su immediately brings up what everyone is already thinking (only she says it politely and sensitively like every INFJ in the history of INFJs): the last time Kuvira and Korra fought one on one (Episode #6 Battle of Zaofu), Korra got her ass handed to her and then some - almost getting killed, in fact.

But Korra acknowledges that and promptly tells everyone resolutely: "Not this time." She's ready this time around. She's grown both as a young woman and as an Avatar; confident and unafraid both of herself and the shadows of her past mistakes and trauma.

She has changed quite a bit since encountering Kuvira on the battlefield the first time,  and this scene says that in one look:

I'm looking forward to this fight - it's going to be a doozy.

They all start climbing towards each of their objectives.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BRAIIINNNS...

I guess we're going to follow Mako and Bolin first. Thanks to Bolin's lava bending, they move towards the engine room and break in to see a spirit-vine-brain-looking-thingy that has to be the power source of the whole mech. They engage the two engineers in typical crazy-army masks. Mako accidentally hits the power source during his scuffle - "That will probably be important later," says the show without actually saying it - and we cut to the Beifong sisters.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In a scene reminiscent of being inside the Death Star from the original Star Wars, Su and Lin emerge close to presumably the weapon's loading system and are promptly attacked by a random soldier. Lin deals with the soldier PG-Assassin's-Creed style while Su rips out the ammo with her metal bending.

Fact: You can never loose if you accessorize with wrist-blades.

Random thought: If there is bendable metal on the inside, why didn't the metal benders just reek havoc from the outside in the first place? We've seen Lin detect metal behind stuff before, so why didn't they just rip everything apart from the outside? Maybe they didn't realize it or maybe platinum shields whatever is behind it from being bent... probably that last one. Meh... Moving on ---

Su pulls the ammo down (definitely the loading system!) and it consequently falls down the inside of the arm, creating a spirit-energy explosion at the bottom that has her diving for cover.

The weapon now has no ammo and no loading system. The sisters are successful!

Pffft, as if there was any doubt! Beifongs are Awesome!

As president of the department of redundancy department, Su says the obvious: "The outside is made of platinum, but we can do a lot of damage in here!" And they start ripping apart everything that can be bent.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cut to Kuvira who is told by henchmen #1 (or #2? I can't really tell) that the weapon's loading system has malfunctioned.

Kuvira reveals that she can sense someone metal bending in the arm (also, there is a disturbance in the Force) and tries to move it. She cannot and says the weapon is useless now - HOLY SHIT! SHE'S GONNA RIP OFF THE ARM, ISN'T SHE?!

She TOTALLY is!

Get out of there, Beifongs!

Lin does some quick-thinking bending to secure the two of them to the wall of the arm as it flies through the air.

The Boom-gun snaps off it's moorings on the arm and flies into a nearby wooded area while the arm hits a building and smashed into the ground.

("This will be important later," says the show without saying it).

Honestly, they should be dead after a crash like that, but knowing the show, they are probably alive - which is cool! I love them and would be upset if they died, I'm just saying': probably should be dead.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just in the knick of late, Korra arrives on the bridge, bends open the locked door and immediately incapacitates Kuvira's henchmen 24601 and TK421 with a double fire and air combo kick.

No words; just action! These two mean business!

This scene in particular was pretty damn cool. That's the liquid metal Kuvira was using on the consoles that she picks up and tosses at Korra.

And it gets swung back towards Kuvira in meteor form! So creative!

Both use the metal in their environment well. Kuvira's better at it than Korra, but the Avatar is holding her own even though she takes a ride along the wall.

Watch the tilting platform, Korra!

Too the wall!

Korra gets tossed into a console and recovers and the two are still fighting as the scene cuts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mako and Bolin are still fighting in the engine room. They finally manage to incapacitate the engineers and start looking for a way to shut down the power.

Bolin shoulder-check!

Trying to turn off the power while pulling both the shut-off switches does not seem to work and Bolin confesses that he has no useful technical savvy about the machine (Mako thought he would after working so closely with Varric and Batar), he confesses that the only thing he knows about the vines "is that if you mess around with them too much, they explode."

 They wouldn't...

They would... OMG!
Called it!

After a moment of thought, Mako tells his brother to grab the two engineers they just knocked out and to get out. He intends to zap the vines with electricity.

After getting perfect clarification on what his brother wants to do. Bolin reacts like any sane brother would with a heartfelt speech:

"This isn't the time to prove how awesome you are! I already know how awesome you are! You're awesome..."
Oh, Bolin, you're awesome.

But Mako says there's no time to argue and that he's committed to doing this.

Bolin understands. "But for the record: I do not approve. Just.... get out as soon as you can...Promise?"

"I promise."

"I love you, bro."

"I love you too. Now get out of here!"

I AM CRYING! FFS!

Bolin grabs both guys over each shoulder (WOW! Have you ever tried to carry someone? People are heavy! And he's got both these guys draped over him like it's nothing!) and heads out the exit while Mako charges his lightning ability with tai-chi moves and a score with sad, heroic tones starts up.

When Bolin is clear, he fires off the first volley.

Reaction is almost instantaneous. The vines are reacting negatively.

He struggles to keep the current going.

And, seeing the reaction starting to get out of proportion, he retreats to the exit.

And is struck in the chest before collapsing...

BOLIN!!! GET BACK IN THERE ARE SAVE YOUR DAMN BROTHER!!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile on the bridge! Korra and Kuvira are still at it.

More liquid metal throwing - so cool!

And the fight's only getting more intense!

Cool shield, bro...

Not so effective shield, bro...

There's even a grapple a-la-Black-Widow.

Kuvira is not doing as well as she'd like.

But her skill allows her to keep in the fight.

They knock each other away so we can cut to see - YES!

 Bolin to the rescue!

He drags his brother away just as the ladders start to collapse around them and BOOOOM!

GUNDAM DOWN! FUCK YEA!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bolin and Mako look to be pretty much in the same boat as Su and Lin at this point. E.I. Probably should be dead, but are just out of commission for now leaving only our villainess and heroine to duke out the last bit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While Kuvira and Korra emerge from the now devastated bridge. Korra's the one helping Kuvira walk.

Whole new meaning to 'any crash you can walk away from'.

Korra lays Kuvira down and sits to rest a bit. Then starts talking about how 'It's over' and Kuvira needs to address her army and surrender.

As soon as Korra opened her mouth, I knew what was coming next. Kuvira's not beaten yet.

Kuvira bend a rock at the Avatar because OF COURSE SHE WOULD!

Korra falls to the ground a few feet back, but Kuvira seems to be in rough shape and flees.

While the Avatar is going to keep chasing her.

Kuvira ends up wandering into one of Republic City's many spirit-forest and vine patches while Korra gives chase while constantly trying to talk the Great Uniter into surrender.

"Never," mutters Kuvira and I am really hoping the vines try to eat her or something even though that would be terrifying for a younger audience.

Yummy villainess in sight.... OMNOMNOM, trees! Come'on!

But instead she stumbles across something that's surprises her.

Bet you a polar bear-dog that it's the weapon from the mech...

You owe me a fucking polarbear-dog.

"Now it's over." And Kuvi pulls the dreaded LEVER OF DOOM! (Oh, no, not the lever of doom!)

And misses as Korra jumps clear just in time!

Only now the weapon can't be turned off because the vines around it are constantly feeding it spirit energy and Kuvira is thrown from her perch after failing to control it with the LEVER OF DOOM. It's now swinging around and blowing up anything in it's path!

Random note: The panic in Kuvira's voice when Korra yells shut it down and she replies "I can't!" after trying to shut down the LEVER OF DOOM is awesome. We've never heard her uncontrolled in the whole season and now she's truly afraid of what's happening.

Not so composed anymore, but you kinda look like a disney character in this light for some reason, Kuvi.

Oh shit! It's headed straight for her!

Don't worry! Korra's gonna save you!
...
WAIT, WHAT?! HOW WILL SHE SAVE KUVI FROM THE BOOM-CANON?

Oookay... Avatar state.

HOLY-

ENERYBENDING!!!

The blast is going out a bit far...

Oh hey! Look! Tenzin+ spawn and Asami still exist! And they can take cover from the blast in conveniently placed alcoves in the city.

One cool couple of seconds where the air gets sucked back into the direction of the blast like a true explosion and we get this.

Is that.... a spirit portal?!?!

That is a fucking spirit portal! Korra made a spirit portal out of the BOOM-CANON shot!

Oh hey! Mako and Bolin are alive!

But mostly.... FUCKING SPIRIT PORTAL!

Tenzin tells everybody who hasn't guessed it yet that it's a fucking spirit portal

Now the search for Kuvira and Korra begins from both sides, but there are no signs of them in the physical realm. HINT HINT: They are probably in the spirit world!!!!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And my hints are taken by the people who wrote the show. We open the next scene with a swing back to season 2 and Korra Spirit looking a little worse for wear and exhausted. (I'll say! She just made a damn spirit portal!)
But, like the first time we saw this apparition-like state, there's an unbalanced Korra Spirit facing her...

And....

 It turns into Kuvi.

Thoughts: This has been hinted the whole damn season that Kuvira and Korra are mirrors. Similarities between the two of them are rather uncanny when you think about them (also, if Kuvi's an ISTP and Korra's an ESTP - and Korra is definitely an ETSP - there are similarities in decision making no matter what especially in dealing with conflict and emotional situations).

I wouldn't be surprised if that's why Korra saved her from the blast. She knows they are alike and she could probably see the good in the Great Uniter even after all crap that's happened.

Anyways, moving on. Korra and Kuvira descend from their transportation to the spirit world. Pretty much unconscious at this point, Kuvira collapses and Korra jumps to catch her - because that's the kind of compassionate person Korra has become (awww...).

Kuvi wakes up and is not pleased, as you can see.
Don't know what she's complaining about. I'd be super happy to wake up in Korra's arms....

She staggers away from the avatar, falls over, gets back and looks at her surroundings. She immediately thinks that the both of them are dead which is not too surprising considering she's never been in the spirit world and I imagine isn't very spiritual.

Korra is quick to say explain where they are and how they got there, though the way she explains how the canon made the portal and not her intervention in the avatar state to redirect the energy into a portal says something to how much she's grown as a character again. There's no boasting at all and she's not quick to blame anyone, including herself and not just Kuvira, about their post-fight predicament (Season 1and 2 Korra would have blamed Kuvira, Season 3 Korra would have blamed herself, Season 4 Korra is just saying the facts and hoping Kuvira sees that she's legit).

Accepting the avatar's explanation about where they are, Kuvi immediately starts thinking back to why they got here and aren't a pile of goo and is confused and distraught.

"Why would you save my life? After everything I did to you?"

Strange that Kuvi doesn't know the worth in mercy being upheld as an ideal to defend. After all, she set out to unite a country on a single ideal vision of uni, but I suppose someone not used to giving out true mercy would not be used to receiving it.

Korra replies that she sees a lot of herself in Kuvira (called it!), to which the dictator is not pleased in learning and rejects immediately. Korra then goes into specifics: "We're both fierce and determined to succeed - sometimes without thinking things through."

I feel like there was a lot more to be said here, but it was cut for time. Though I suppose this is the most defining descriptor of the two women to start a conversation.

I love Korra's hair in this scene... also the stuff she says, but her hair is just awesome.

Kuvi still isn't pleased, but now it's mostly disappointment in herself before she quickly shifts to blame those who didn't surrender. That none of 'this' (I assume she means all the the destruction and resistance against her goal) would have happened.

But Korra's having none of that shit - Kuvira knew the risks going in, but she's just hasn't come to terms with how wrong things have gone yet.

"Acting like a DICK(ator) to your people!" (Oh, come'on: you heard that the first time you saw it too...)

The avatar goes a little too far, in my opinion, by saying that Kuvi had to have known that "what she was doing wasn't right." Kuvira knew what she was doing was right to the measure of her own values and not anyone else's. In fact, that's why she left Zaofu in the first place - to fight and build for the values she wished to share from her time there.

And true to that belief she goes on to say that the reason she did all of this was out of necessity, that she was "trying to help (her) people" since Suyin refused use her leadership abilities after the Earth Queen's death and Korra was no where to be seen or found to maintain the balance - no one else was stepping up to inspire the earth kingdom to build anew so Kuvi took it upon herself.

Korra understands and tries to get Kuvira to believe that she does. It doesn't do much to convince Kuvi at first and she lashes out before Korra has time to be clear:

"Su told me how she took you in when you were younger. It must have been so hard being an orphan."

In response, Kuvira replies that Korra can't pretend to know how she feels. That "the avatar is adored by millions" and that her parents simply cast her aside as if she meant nothing.

"How could I stand by and watch the same thing happen to my nation when it needed someone to guide it?"

In a flash of maturity and sensitivity, Korra finishes the dictator's train of thought to show that she does in fact understand why Kuvi did what she did: "You wanted to create a place were you and your people would never be vulnerable again." She sits with Kuvi and explains that she understands fear and what it does to someone. That wanting to be in control again for people like her and Kuvira is something they'd want to do (and have already done brashly) out of desperation.

I think what Korra's trying to get to in this is that Kuvira just wanted the stability she got from growing up in Zaofu to be given to everyone who the Earth Queen and everyone else had abandoned, but in the end, she let her own fear drive her willingness to protect them and many would say she took it too far.

Anywho, the talk seems to reach Kuvira (this is assumed in one three-second moving shot of Kuvi's expression).

The scene abruptly cuts to outside the spirit portal in the physical world where we see the spirits are returning and Tenzin confirms it (cause Captain Obvious).

Korra and Kuvira emerge from the portal together with Korra keeping Kuvi walking.

'Tada! We're alive people!'

The two limp their way to where Team Avatar has conveniently gathered and are immediately confronted by the mini-mech looking for Kuvira.

Kuvira gets them to stand down. That the Avatar saved her life and that Korra has more power at her finger-tips than she could ever hope to achieve (I'll say! She just opened a freakin' spirit portal!). She surrenders and agrees to take any punishment the people deem fit.

Kuvira is arrested, by Chief Beifong no less (who, along with her sister, has no internal injuries or broken bones whatsoever from being tossed to the ground inside a giant metal tube...).

She apologizes to Suyin for everything she's done to her mentor and family. Su then tells her strongly that she's "going to pay for everything (she's) done." Little harsh, but once you betray the loyalty of the an NF, you are not getting back into the inner circle easily.

The Beifong sisters take her away in chains.

Random Commentary: There are rumors that Legend of Korra's funds were slashed pretty bad the last two seasons and that an entire episode's budget was lost in this season. This is the main theory for why the Remembrances episode (A.K.A. The rehash-all-the-animation-with-different-voice-overs episode) existed in the first place and consequently was so terrible. If the creators of this show ever get a chance to fix that bit for DVD/Bluray release, they should add an episode on Kuvira's past (I can think of about hundred different things other than what was done in Remembrances, but this one seems like it would have been the most logical and important to tell - hell, they wouldn't even had to have changed the title at all since all you gotta do is start with Kuvi on a travel day and have her reflect on her journey so far).

We needed to know more about this character to have made this scene stick harder than it did. It still makes me real with emotion and Zelda Williams does a great job selling the sudden turmoil in Kuvi's voice when she confronts Korra about what life was like being an orphan, but telling only does so much, they needed to show us. Things like: How Kuvira was similar to Korra in personality (easiest way would be to just have her discover she could metalbend and yell "I'm a metalbender! You better deal with it!"); how good she was at earth bending as a kid before she learnt to metalbend (she would have had a natural talent to become as skilled as she is now, plus the joy Korra takes in bending should be mirrored by Kuvira); the circumstances in which she was abandoned/orphaned and what it looked like from kid-Kuvi point of view no matter what happened ; how Suyin adopted her into her ever growing family and what it was like for her to grow up in Zaofu; why she believes so strongly in solidarity and collective-well being; etc...

An other way to help with Kuvira's development would have been to make this scene longer. The bit of the conversation about fear and trying to regain control needed to have a more clear conclusion to it (three seconds of Kuvi looking surprised is not enough).

Don't get me wrong though, I still like this scene both inside and outside the spirit world. It's just a shame we don't understand Kuvira a little more in it and I wish we did.

OKAY. Aside over.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We return to the gang who, after Asami and Korra get a quick glance at each other (my hopes will not be for filled with these two, but whatever...) and everybody hugs Korra.

Look at that shit! A little glance and subtle touch? Super cute.

HUGS!

And then a wedding!

Zhu Li and Varric are tying the knot and - OMFG! Look at the dresses Asami and Korra are wearing! Please tell me we get to see those close up later... cause it would be a crime not to.
(Also, Meelo's asleep and I think that's hilarious.)

And damn! Lin cleans up well! (Not clapping though - too badass.)

Anyways... Zhu Li and Varric tie the knot in a fun fashion with Bolin presiding as a priest-like figure.

Awww! Varric is crying!

Reception party sees the following people: Leader of the Whitefalls Wolfbats from season 1, Tahno, is playing the trumpet in the band. The two mustache-detectives from season 2 (whose names escape me at the moment) are also there, along with the late night assistant to Councilman Tarlok who reveals that he can blood-bend from season 1.

I'm sure there are more, but I don't recognize them right away.

Ikki and Huan are dancing together and I think that's pretty much the most awesome thing ever. (Fanfiction writers: SHIP THIS SHIT!)

OMG! Look at how awkwardly precious Huan is.

We know that Opal is okay, because Bolin seen being lead onto the dance floor.

Bad pic, but you can still see them.

Fanfiction writers: Write something about THIS GUY dressed as Nuktuk, Hero of the South, and Lin Beifong getting together. I CAN ONLY SEE GREAT THINGS!

Oh shit! That's totally Tenzin's youngest as a two-year old being chased by Pema and covered in... berry sauce? Well, at least he had a cameo. (What the hell was his name? Rohan?)

Prince Wu becomes even more less annoying. Saying to Mako and Korra that he's gonna let the Earth Kingdom's states lead themselves without a monarchy. Korra approves +20 (IN THE BEST DRESS EVER) and offers any and all support in the transition.
BUT MOSTLY: Look at that dress! (I want that dress!)

Damn, son! You turned out not be such as asshole after all...

Wu leaves of the dance floor, leaving Mako and Korra to have the cutest, most awesome heart-to-heart ever. Mako tells Korra that he will always "have (her) back" and Korra is ecstatic to accept.

Random note: This was a sweet scene between the two of them. They have gone from BF/GF, to broken up, to BF/GF again since Mako didn't want to upset her back in season 2 and then back to break-up, then to awkward friends, then to best friends again. It was nice to finally see some closure on the two. And what could be sweeter than an ISTJ like Mako giving you a pledge of loyalty. OMG! So sweet!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Korra is taking a break from the party for a moment of reflection, I suppose.

And why not? Hasn't she earned some quiet, reflection time?

Tenzin joins her and they talk of the future and lessons learnt.

Nothing like an INFJ to discuss all of your stuff with... I love Tenzin for all his stating of the obvious at times. He's a great negotiator and great mentor.

They talk about the president expanding the city instead of rebuilding downtown (logical). And the fact that Korra has transformed the world "more in a few years than most avatars have done in their entire lifetimes". Korra doesn't hide that she isn't done yet and wants to lean and do more. Tenzin is super happy that Korra isn't depressed and beaten by fear and injury anymore. They both reflect on life and how it does not always yield what we expect from it and is often rough and unforgiving.

Korra goes on to reveal that she knows now what she needed to learn from her suffering (remember what Katara said back in Korra Alone about learning from suffering?): that she needed to understand what true suffering was in order to become more compassionate to others - even Kuvira.

Note: No idea what to think about that last bit right now. Not sure the torture and suffering of someone can be validated in such a way... *sigh* I don't know. As an ETSP, taking her down a notch can be very good for her, but thinking about what that means to the rest of us not at the top of the social scale? That's just BS most of the time. I don't need to go through my own torture to realize that I care about others because I already do care about others already... DEEPLY. Gah. Must have more thought on it...

Anyways, Tenzin embraces her shoulder in mentor-love and...

Asami shows up?

Suspicious Zachara is optimistically suspicious...

And tells Tenzin that Varrick is going to borrowing a glider-suit to fly off the tower (LOL!).

Tenzin is (rightly) worried and runs off to stop him.

"That doesn't seem like a good idea!"

Leaving Korra and Asami alone to talk and kiss (*sigh* never going to happen *rolls eyes*)

"Wanna sit with me for a bit? I don't wanna get back to the party just yet."

Korra and Asami time! I'm actually super happy this is happening regardless of the fact that they will never allow these two to get together because they have grown close through these last two seasons (close enough to be more than friends - stop that brain...) Asami is the only one Korra confided in via letters while she was recovering and the two have had the strongest of girlfriend relationships at this point (the more traditional use of that word: they are girlfriends in the meaning that they are 'girls who are close friends with one an other') and I'm super happy they get to talk anything out together.

OMFG, though. LOOK AT THEIR DRESSES! I don't usually gush over dresses, but just... LOOK AT THEM! OMG, I want one of those dresses (mostly Korra's, but still...)! *GUSH*

They sit and they talk. Korra immediately gets something off her chest and apologizes for being gone for so long.

Asami (being the excellent ISFP she is) replies: "You don't need to apologize for anything. I'm just so happy you're here now."

Good GAWD! Look at that face! YOU MUST LET HER FORGIVE YOU! (And for pete sake, forgive yourself for that shit already!) Also, kiss her.

Asami then emphasize her admiration for Korra by saying that she "wouldn't have been able to take loosing (Korra) and her father in the same day". Which results in a comforting apology/condolences and hug from Korra. To which Asami is grateful, saying that she glad that she "was able to forgive him in the end."

After hugs time; a question: "Sooo...What now?" Korra's the one to ask it.

After admitting that dancing isn't something she wants to do so much right now, Asami basically says that the best thing for her is to go on a vacation. She's tiered and I can't blame her for that.

"Let's do it!" says Korra, surprising the hell out of Asami (and me and probably the rest of the people watching and OMFG@#!@$!@&@$%!). "Let's go on a vacation; just the two of us. Anywhere you want?"

HOLY SHIT!

Optimistic Zachara is optimistic...

But Asami pretty much says 'what-the-hell why not?' "I've always wanted to see what the spirit world is like."
Ummmm.... WOW!
(Thank god there are a lot of gifs with avatar references!)

Okay. I did not give a crap about accurately reporting scene by scene anymore because I was a little busy picking my jaw up from the floor...

Short version of the last minute or so: Korra and Asami hold hands and walk off into the spirit world together while gazing into each others eyes to the most romantic music ever reminiscent of the finale for The Last Airbender...

Pan up through the spirit portal.

Credits Roll.

....

WOW.
That just happened!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANY DAYS LATER...

So, I was late watching these episodes to begin with and now it's, what, 10 days ago that the finale came out? At first, I was just going to do a random reactionary note on the last scene, but that turned out to be several paragraphs long, then much more than that... So, I'll just make a separate post with my reaction + plus looking back at other episodes + commentary in general. I've read through a lot of other reviews and the statements from the writers, so that will be in there too.

I will have to edit the hell out that some more, but in the meantime:

I love this show. I love the whole world and the characters they put in it and while I know there are people who might be upset at how it ended - I am a happy camper all things considered.

Great job to all the people who kept the show going and a special thank you goes to you from the bottom of my heart!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sooooooo...

Now that the rational Zachara has been present for the last few sentences, let me just... gush for a bit:

THIS COUPLE IS NOT JUST IN MY HEAD! IT'S FUCKING CANNON!

WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

(Yes, I know it's not an Avatar gif, but it's too perfect not to use...)

Only thing missing from the ending (they totally should have put this after the credits a-la-Avengers):

OKAY!

Gushing complete!

Return to your daily lives, people...
